Hydrogen technology is the focus of interest. The islands of Ameland and Borkum are currently experimenting with the inclusion of hydrogen in energy supply as part of the INTERREG project H2Watt. In addition to its use in mobility, Ameland is also looking at the application of hydrogen in existing buildings and to balance existing grids. The municipality of Ameland wants to be at the forefront of the technology and be an example for other islands and municipalities.
