Prospects for the economic viability of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in decentralized energy supply

Prospects for the economic viability of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in decentralized energy supply

On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, the focus will be on prospects for the economic viability of hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in decentralized energy supply. To this end, the content and results of the Export Initiative for Environmental Protection (EXI) funding program of the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) will be presented in a digital live broadcast and an international view of the topic will be taken.

The use of green hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in applications for decentralized energy supply can make a positive contribution to access to green environmental technologies, improved security of supply and local welfare, particularly in emerging and developing countries. Decentralized and off-grid fuel cell systems used in stationary or semi-stationary energy supply not only ensure a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions or increased protection of the environment and health. The use of renewable energies in combination with hydrogen and fuel cell technologies can also guarantee the all-important, independent and reliable energy supply, which also offers great potential for social and economic development in the target countries of the EXI.
