Southern Lower Saxony. The Hydrogen Alliance Southern Lower Saxony (H2AS) invites all interested parties to the 12th online event of the H2AS lecture series on Thursday, June 15, 2023 (17:30-18:30). The topic of the twelfth meeting is "Hydrogen combustion:CO2-neutral power generation in gas turbine power plants".
Contents
The energy transition towardsCO2-neutral electricity generation must rely primarily on the expansion of renewable energies, i.e. wind power plants and photovoltaic systems. Due to the volatility of these energy sources, storage systems must also be implemented in the energy system. One way of storing surplus electrical energy is to convert it into green hydrogen and reconvert it into electricity in gas turbine power plants. Burning hydrogen instead of natural gas can lead to problems with increased nitrogen oxide emissions due to the high combustion temperature.
The aim of Agnes Eberhard's research at the Chair of Process Energy and Industrial Energy Management at Clausthal University of Technology is, on the one hand, to experimentally investigate how nitrogen oxide emissions can be reduced and, on the other, to evaluate which computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation methods can be used to calculate the flames in the best possible way. In her presentation, she will report on the current status of her research.
Registration
The free event will take place online via the web conferencing tool "Zoom". Anyone interested can register here using the registration form.
